First step towards engaging local actors in community led development for self reliance
Environment

Climate change is a particular threat to continued economic growth and to the livelihoods of vulnerable populations.

We address Children who despite playing virtually no role in causing global climate change, are the most at risk. Climate impacts affecting children come in the form of both sudden, unexpected disasters, and slower, invisible but deadly impacts such as fever transmission and water scarcity.

To build the resilience of children, we work in 3 main ways:

-
Building awareness: We work with teachers, school administrators, and local departments of education to teach lessons about climate change in the classroom. Children learn about why climate change is occurring, the risks they face in their communities, and the actions they can take including plantation and cleanliness drives.
-
Communities become climate-smart: Communities learn about the impacts of climate change, how to monitor and adapt to its impacts. Children and youth are involved in devising community action plans.
-
Advocacy: Children become empowered to teach others about climate change. They act as change agents for climate change mitigation and adaptation actions.
